You may not know Jason Lauritsen, but he’s a leading speaker and thinker on topics such as employee engagement and leadership.
He is also an avid reader, like you and me.
Jason appeared on my podcast last week, and recommended a treasure trove of resources for people like you who want to double-down on their personal development. He loves authors like Chip and Dan Health, Dan Ariely, and Dan Crosby. Do you see a theme? If your name is Dan, Jason will pimp your book.
Read This Book
But the most interesting recommendation from Jason was “What Color is Your Parachute?” It’s an old-school book meant to help people align their passion and purpose. Stuck? Wondering what’s next? Thinking about quitting your job and starting a consulting company? Before you do anything, Jason thinks you should read the book and do the exercises.
I read “What Color is Your Parachute?” when I was right out of college, but I don’t remember it. So, I bought a copy for myself to read on an upcoming trip to Canada. I’m emceeing DisruptHR Calgary, and a long flight is an opportunity to read something new.
I also bought a copy for you. That’s right — I’m giving away a free copy of “What Color is Your Parachute?” to a lucky reader of HR Books.
How Do I Win?
I want you to head over to HR Books on Facebook and leave a book recommendation. What are you reading? What’s good? Any authors knocking it out of the park?
My favorite recommendation wins the book. That’s it. It’s an arbitrary request, but summer reading season is almost here and I’m looking for recommendations that will surprise and delight me. So, get over to Facebook and leave a comment.
Find Us Other Places, Too
I don’t have mice in my pockets. I have a team of creative people behind HR Books. We’re active on Twitter, where we’re sharing links and resources to make your day a little brighter. We are on Instagram, too, focusing on making reading fun. And the #HRBookClub will host a Twitter chat on April 30th at 1 p.m. Eastern to discuss the HR books of the month: “HR on Purpose!” and “Herding Tigers.”
Lots of ways to find us. Now head over to Facebook, leave a recommendation, and win a book that might change your life!
